(Gertie) Christine Beyette

Christine Beyette (nee Posthumus) passed away suddenly at the Beausejour Hospital on November 10, 2018, at the age of 68.

She is survived by her children, Jamie (Ryan) Voss, David (Mieko) Beyette and Pamela (Pedro) Cabral; her grandchildren, Saundra and Clarissa Voss, Haulu, Zen, Joe and Louie Beyette, Collin and Andrew Cabral.  She is also survived by sisters, Martha Beyette and Ellen Schick; brothers, Lewis (Germaine) Posthumus, Frank Posthumus, Raymond Posthumus, and Norman (Karri) Posthumus; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Gowler and Bela Posthumus; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Christine was predeceased by her loving husband James (Jim) Beyette; parents, Nellie and Melle Posthumus; brother Matthew Posthumus; and brothers-in-law Wayne Beyette and Bruce Gowler.

Christine grew up on the family farm in Rapid City, Mb, and later moved to Birch River, MB, where she attended high school.  She moved to Dauphin, Mb, at the age of 18, to work as a telephone operator.

After 2 years, Christine moved to Winnipeg where she studied photography at red River Community College and met Jim.  They were married in September of 1972 and started their family in 1977.  They moved to Beausejour in 1986 and lived happily there until Jim’s passing on September 14, 2018.  Christine cared for him in the final months of his illness and began her life as a widow before her own passing.

Christine enjoyed the outdoors, being in her garden, and “spotting” all the special and unusual insects and butterflies.  She had a natural artistic talent and especially enjoyed photography.  Her church and faith were very important to her; being involved in church duties and Bible studies.

Christine will be especially remembered for her good nature, her ability to always see the good in life and her calm, easy way of voicing her opinion.  She was seldom one to be judging and could easily find a way to be accepting.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour, with a public viewing one hour prior to the service.  A luncheon will follow in the Beausejour Community Church, followed by the burial of James and Christine Beyette in the Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beausejour Community Church, Box 1816, Beausejour, MB  R0E 0C0.
