Irene Turner

It is with heavy hearts we announce that our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother; Irene Turner (nee Riddall) passed away on January 9th at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour.

Irene was born on January 26, 1927 in Spy Hill, SK.  In 1950 she won the heart of the young Wilbert Turner and was swept away to a dairy farm a few miles west of Beausejour, MB.  Mom loved her life on the farm.  She enjoyed gardening, knitting, curling and was a volunteer with many local groups.  She loved to travel, and to dance the night away with her beloved Bert.

Mom’s second career was that of Administrative Assistant at the Beausejour Hospital and East Gate Lodge for many years.  She was dedicated and passionate about her job and loved the people she was privileged to work with.

To celebrate her life, she leaves behind: Daughter Laurie McKeown (Ralph) Creston, BC; sons Jim and Tom, Beausejour; Grandchildren: Coreen (Mike), Michael (Lelah), Craig (Lara), Rochelle and Peytyn.  Great grandchildren: Liam, Lula, Brayden, and Keely. Brother,  Wayne (Marlene) and sister Alma Laughlin.  Sister-in-laws, Margaret MacDonald, Doris and Muriel Turner as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Bert in 2001 and by her parents Alfred and Pearl Riddall.

The family would like to thank all the East Gate Staff for providing mom with loving care, especially Cindee, Robyn and Lois.  Also special thanks to her dear friends Lil and Lorraine.

A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pau’ls United Church in Beausejour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul’s United Church, Beausejour.
