Jay Hay

July 3, 1983 ~ February 1, 2023

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, son, brother and uncle, Jason Thomas Hay on February 1, 2023, at the age of 39.  He is pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents Karl and Gwendolyn Fiebelkorn and paternal grandparents Bob and Gladys Hay and special Aunt Donna Chopp and Uncle Howard Wilkins. Left to mourn his passing are his much beloved daughters Kayley and Kierra, parents Tom and Carol Hay, sister Christy (Neal) Smith, nephews Grayson and Emmett Smith, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jason was born in Beausejour, MB on July 3, 1983 and our lives were never quiet again.  As a youngster he busied himself playing hockey, baseball and riding his bike.  Once Jay got a little older, he was lured by the intoxicating smell of snowmobile exhaust, speed and the thrill of snowmobiling and was hooked.  Snowmobiling became a life long passion and during the winter he could be found on the trails, at the CPTC track, watching races on TV and for a time, testing his ability as a snow cross racer; but it had to be Polaris. He was hard worker, doing blue collar work that was dirty and came with long hours in addition to being away from home for days or weeks at a time.  His greatest joy and biggest blessings called him Daddy.  Kaley and Kierra are the apples of their Daddy’s eye and were fiercely loved; he would do anything just to see them smile.

A special thank you to the Beausejour EMS and RCMP for their assistance and compassion.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour, MB.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kayley and Kierra Hay and Grayson and Emmett Smith. As a family member is immunocompromised, masks are requested and we respectfully ask that if you are feeling ill to please stay home and offer your condolences in another manner.

In lieu of flowers an account has been set up at the RBC, Beausejour Branch and donations can be e-transferred directly to Jayhaykids@outlook.com for Kayley and Kierra’s future fund.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can remember that morning of July 3rd when Tom called us to give us the news that Jayson was born. It was so exciting, and because Jayson and I now shared the same birthday made it more special. Words cannot express how I feel, its a sad time. Tom, Carol & family – there aren’t enough words to express my condolences on the passing of Jason. May God be your comfort and strength during this difficult time in your life. I will always remember the smiling, cheerful little boy who came to greet Rudy and I with “Hi I’m Jason, are you going to be our new neighbours” while we were checking our newly purchased lot on Lilac Lane. Rest In Peace dear Jason.

I remember when we owned Crosstown and your business was down the street on Park. Jay would come in after school and buy his treats and would be right on to the cent. Len would say ” your right on again ”
and Jay with that big smile would say ” Yeah I know.” I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you both & Christy and her family.

I met Jay when I moved to Beausejour when I was 9 years old. Many of us became close friends through high school and years after graduation. The times we would flip loops in his newly painted blue n gold cavalier. Concerts, house party’s. playing ice hockey on the outdoor rink, snowmobiling. We were all so close back in the day.. I cherish those days and memories. Condolences to his parents Tom And Carol, his sister and his two daughters. Sending prayers for you all. Rest easy Jay see you on the other side!

I’ll always remember that funny, loving, wholehearted kid who would drive his quad to my place after school to play pool then we would go out riding, stopping at many friends places along the way.

I have lost parents -grandparents -aunts -uncles- cousins- and so many friends in my life. And I may have only had the honor of being a small part of his life for just two short years. But with Jay I only needed two hours to know we would be friends and every single visit, Call, Text We shared he became a brother I knew had a heart of gold. And I am not saying this cause hes gone. If I ever needed anything he would find a way. He was truly selfless in every way. If he knew someone needed him he would not quit till they where ok. When I was down and out, he would pick up my meds and always encourage me to give my all. He gave more love and compassion then any one. And he never judged another person, Race, Gender, Religion, Rich, Poor, Young and old he gave it all. I will miss that smile and his uplifting words. But I’m sure he will be watching all of us. I’m sure he earned his angels wings and was needed sooner then anyone was ready to let go. And to his parents, never doubt the fact you can honestly say your boy was a gift to everyone he met and be filled with pride and joy knowing you did an amazing job and Jay loved you both for all you gave to him, and to his children, know your dad was a superhero and more. He wouldn’t want to be the reason anyone feels sad. And know life may be complicated and confusing at times. But his love for his kids was as pure.

Couldn’t of said it any better!!

Knew him for a few months maybe a year and I’ve seen this all 100% @ all times.

He spent many hours in my apartment through Christmas laughing and crying about his girls happy and sad tears, he just wanted to be able to be around them and have them in his presence – he was a good guy, an even better dad – without seeing him and his kids interact – you could just tell! He loved them more than life itself ♡.

      My condolences

To Jay’s whole family, my heart truly goes out to you; I’m so sorry for your loss and the heartache you now have to go through. It’s a testament to the great person Jay truly was that the loss is one that is shared and felt by so many people.

I’ve known Jay most of my life, so I’ve long been acquainted by the energetic, funny, and warm force of nature, always the most popular guy in the room, who still made you feel like the center of the world’s attention (just as soon as he had yours), that was Jay. However I also had the good fortune to get to know Jay better these last few years after I moved back to Beausejour. It has been this time that I’ve come to also know the Jay who is generous, thoughtful and kind. For that’s the way that he has singularly acted to me and the way that I’ve seen him be to others.

There are a million examples of Jay being a good, decent person, I hope in these dark days his family must go through that the light of the kindness and decency that Jay spread by being so nice to so many reflects back to his loved ones. The many times in these last few years that Jay went out of his way simply to be nice to me and treat me with the of respect that he did will always be something I will be grateful for and cherish; for Jay did not have to be that accommodating or helpful to me.

    He chose to.

That’s just who Jay was. He will be dearly missed.

    where to begin…..
I have been friends and have know Jason since grade one, when both us and our parents had a meeting in the principals office after I cut my face in the sandbox while we were messing around.

In our later years when I was unemployed and down and out he convinced his parents to give me a job at Kolors autobody supplies. That single favor/ good deed change my life forever and has set me up for success till this day. Jason I don’t think I ever properly thanked you for that and I am sitting here regretting it immensely. Thank you so much!
To Tom and Carol we have not had much contact after I stopped working for you after 15 years but I want you to know that I am grateful for the opportunity you gave me and I care for you both very much.

Jason was a great person/great friend and great father. You both should be very proud to call him your son.
To his daughters just know he loved you more then life its self.

Until we meet again brother, save me a spot at the table!
