March 28, 1929 — March 28, 2015

1929 ~ 2015

Peacefully, at sunrise, on August 5, 2015, Jean left her life on this earth to meet with her Lord and Saviour. With clarity of mind she has been reunited with her predeceased husband Stanley. She leaves to mourn her two children; Sharon Dugard and Randy (Laura) Gmiterek; four grandsons: Aaron Dugard (Breanne), Nathan Dugard (friend Debbie), Nicholas Gmiterek (friend Erin), Jesse Gmiterek and great granddaughter Brooke.

With angels at arm she has been led forward to all those left waiting. She was predeceased by her precious son in-law Mark Dugard, parents Peter and Helen Kryschuk, sister Kay (Nick) Holigroski, brother John Kryschuk and brother in-law Len Meyers. Through marriage; Mike (Mary) Gmiterek, Mary (Frank) Moore, Kay (Mike) Novak, Anton (Nellie) Gmiterek, Jean (Mike) Novak, Rose (Joe) Duma, John Gmiterek, Eddie Gmiterek, and Helen (Bill) Fandych.

Jean also leaves to mourn; sister Eleanor Meyers, sister in-law Mary Kryschuk, brother Roy (Pat) Kryschuk, brother Raymond Kryschuk, Teenie Gmiterek, Joe (Olga) Gmiterek, Pearl Cyncora and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Jean was born on April 7, 1929 in Brokenhead, MB. In her early years she worked as a seamstress in a sewing factory. It was soon after she met the love of her life, Stosh, and was wed on November 11, 1950. Together, they became the next generation on the family farm before later moving not far from home. Mom often spoke of her hard work, getting up at sunrise, raising a family and maintaining the farm. She found great pleasure in her flower beds, painting and her many accomplishments found in the great outdoors. She also found happiness in her own style of creating something new within the home. Mom loved her crafts, was an outstanding cook and a bit of a sweet tooth. One of her greatest gifts was to entertain and treat all who sat at her table. She loved to be amongst family and friends. In her early years she became the organist within the Allegra Church. Later, she continued her talent playing and singing as a simple pleasure. She enjoyed to travel from around home, Hawaii, Barbados, and Mexico, to name a few.

Even as the last several years has been difficult for our mother to remember, we do. Her smile, wit, and the love she has given to each of us will never be forgotten.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Van Rensburg and the staff of East Gate Lodge for the past years of our mother and grandmother’s life. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, care and fulfillment.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 516 Atlantic Avenue, Beausejour with interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Prayers will be said on Sunday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Open Doorways Orphanage” or a charity of your choice.
