Louie Payette

November 10, 1942 — April 27, 2022

November 10, 1942 ~ April 27, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Louie Payette announces his passing on April 27, 2022 at the age of 79.

Louie was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Wanda Payette.  He leaves to mourn his wife Ruby; daughters Wendy Louise (Patrick) and Trudy (Ian); grandchildren Stephenie (Marc) and Justin (Charlaine); and his great grandchildren Axl and Nova.  Also left to mourn are his siblings Lucy Krause (Charles), Dave Payette, and Lois Payette.

Louie started working in heavy construction with his father in northern Manitoba at a young age and made this his career throughout his life.  Two of the major projects he worked on were the Thompson Highway and the Winnipeg Floodway.  It was while working in northern Manitoba that Louie met his wife and lifelong partner Ruby.  They settled in Louie’s home town of Lac du Bonnet, where Louie eventually started his own business.  After retiring from that, he still worked for Grewinski Trucking, spending time at the shop with Marc, Johnny and the crew is what he loved to do.

He loved to visit his daughters so he could play with his grandchildren “Steffie and Justin”.  In the latter years, he loved being around his great grandchildren Axl and Nova, who never failed to make him laugh and put a smile on his face.

After retiring, Louie would meet “the boys” at Drifters or Casey’s for his morning coffee to chat.  He liked to drive around to see what was going on and drive out to Pinawa to visit with his brother Dave.

Thank you to the Doctors and staff at Pinawa Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital for the care given to Louie.  The family would also like to thank friends and family for your kindness and support.

As per Louie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be had.
