Lucie (Lucy) Bruneau

November 12, 1930 — December 9, 2021

November 12, 1930 ~ December 9, 2021

On Thursday, December 9th with family by her side, our beautiful, quiet, caring and loving mom passed away at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home.

She leaves to mourn her four loving daughters, Diane, Rachel (Les), Linda (Bill) and Louise (Gord), seven adored grandchildren Kerri (Troy), Jonathan (Karen), Marla (Andrew), Amber (Ryan), Lee (Jaime), Mackenzie (Marcus), DJ (Lindsey) and 14 precious great-grandchildren.

Born to Flora and Oscar Dubé, Mom was the second born of 12 siblings; she will be missed by her surviving three lovely sisters, five wonderful brothers as well as many inlaws, nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband Maurice.

Mom married dad on October 5th, 1949 and soon after was kept busy raising their four daughters in Great Falls, sewing matching dresses and head scarves for Linda and Louise and grad dresses and 3 piece pant suits for Diane and Rachel.

She was involved in curling and bowling, was a teacher of catechism and 4-H and belonged to the Great Falls Women’s Institute.  She was very pleased to receive a part-time job at the Great Falls Staff House and earn her own spending money.

Mom was so proud of her family; she always said she had the most beautiful grandchildren.  She enjoyed knitting and each grandchild was blessed to receive a special blanket.  With the addition of great-grandchildren she could be heard saying; “they light up my life”.  She always made sure there was plenty of treats, baking and goodies available when they visited, especially the infamous GoldFish crackers she always kept in her pantry (that she secretly liked in her soup!)

In Mom’s later years, she enjoyed going for afternoon coffee with her sister Armande and friends, where Dad would tag along as her chauffeur and sitting outside on her deck with Dad.

In recent years Mom enjoyed listening to music in her room at the personal care home which made her very happy.  She did a lot of toe-tapping to her favourite Johnny Cash songs.

Our sincere thanks to all the staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for their patience, care and kindness.  You all truly deserve a round of applause for the work you do.

A private family service is planned for the end of December.  We ask all who knew her to please honour her life by taking some time to recall a special moment or memory of time spent with her, or by wearing her favourite color, red.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba or the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home.

We will love you forever Mom, rest in peace.

P.S. say hi to Dad from all of us.
