Maureen Marcinkow

1954 ~ 2020

Peacefully and after a long journey, Maureen passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Irene, brother Dennis, father and mother-in-law Frank and Anne, sister-in-law Bev, brother-in-law Wayne and nephew-in-law Markian.  She is survived by her husband Tim, daughter Ashley (David), son Bradley (Cassandra) and granddaughters Leah and Emma.  She is also survived by her stepfather Steve, sister Pat, her brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephew.

Maureen was born in Beausejour and graduated from Beausejour Senior School.  She moved to the “big city” and worked at Pioneer Grain for 7 years.  She met Tim and after they married they settled in Beausejour.  She then began her 35 year career for the Manitoba government.

We couldn’t have asked for a more devoted mother.  She attended countless hockey games and piano recitals, helped us with anything and everything and called a million times “just to talk”.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she would have spent every waking minute with them if she could have.  She enjoyed travelling with her friends, volunteering and planting beautiful flower beds.  Mom loved people – she’d strike up a conversation and make a friend anywhere.  Even in the grocery line, much to our embarrassment.  She spent hours entertaining friends with an open door.  No one was a stranger and you left, fed, watered and entertained.  She clipped coupons and found deals only to turn around and use her savings to donate to a charity or treat a friend to lunch.  Her generosity and warmth knew no bounds.  Mom faced any struggle with a vibrant and positive attitude.

We are forever grateful to Dad, without him mom would have never come this far.  Thank you to Dr. Partyka, Dr. Anang, P.A. Persad, nurse Kacee, the staff at the Beausejour Hospital and all of her Home Care Attendants for their kind and compassionate care.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Parkinson Canada.

Our hearts are missing a piece that we can never get back.  You taught us by example how to make the world a better place.

Maureen was the most amazing mother and friend! She was always there with an ear when you needed to talk, always wanting to help. She even offered up Tim if you needed a hand doing work outside. She also offered up her daughter to babysit my 5 week old baby, Ashley was only 12 then, and babysat my children until they were old enough to not need a sitter. If you ever dropped by her house, it’s true she made sure you felt welcome, fed you and treated you like family, she is irreplaceable. My heart breaks for your family and I know she will be watching over you for the rest of your lives, because that’s just the way Maureen was, always taking care of everyone else. Love you Maureen!!

Maureen was truly the kindest and most thoughtful person we have ever known. She kept in touch with all of our family over the years and welcomed us lovingly each time we came back to visit. Even recently, while struggling with her fragility and lack of strength, she took the time to FaceTime with us and get to know the youngest member of our family. Her beautiful smile and genuinely caring and loving words will be sadly missed.

I got to know Maureen when I started my career with Manitoba Conservation. I will always remember our chats about life and work while carpooling to and from Lac du Bonnet everyday. Maureen was such a warm, welcoming, and caring person. In the short time I knew her, it was very clear how dedicated she was to her family, work, and community. My deepest sympathies to Tim, Brad, Ashley, and family.

Tim, Ashley, Brad and extended family

So sorry to hear of Maureen’s passing. We were not only work friends but socialized outside of work. Maureen had a heart of gold and party planning was her knack. Her smile and warm disposition was always present. Although she is no longer with you in body, she is forever in your hearts. You now have your own personal angel watching over all of you. She has gone to a better place and has no more suffering. Cherish all your memories – they will last a lifetime.

So many Memories of Maureen and the Marcinkow family. Maureen was such a loving person who loved her family completely. She welcomed us to Beauséjour when we moved here. She was a dedicated volunteer and spent so many hours serving her community. We will always treasure our memories at the Marcinkow‘s over the years. Parkinson’s is a horrible disease and takes so much from the person with the disease and the family who love them. Jim and I send our deepest sympathy for your loss and for what Maureen has to endure. Our thoughts are with Tim, Ashley and Brad and their families.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time of loss. Maureen was a delightful person who had a smile for everyone. Her laughter was infectious and her kindness was genuine. We cherish the fond memories we have of visiting with Maureen and Tim during the countless curling bonspiels that our sons were in.
Take care and know that we are thinking of you.

I am so sorry for your loss . Even when you know it is coming, one is never prepared. She was a remarkable lady…so kind and she had a way of making you feel so very welcome. I have good memories of her…lunch with the girls, our gangs supper out…but whenever I need to smile and laugh, I think of our Shooting Star trips. Tim… you were there for her during the hard and painful times. She is dearly missed. But I believe she is there with you. A feather, a dime, she will try to tell you in her own way she is free and no longer in pain and that she is watching over you. My heart goes out to all of you.

Tim, Ashley and Bradley (spouses and grandchildren too). My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very sad and difficult time. During my teaching career, I was blessed to have met so many wonderful students and their parents. However, Maureen was not just a parent; she was a true friend as well. She was such a sweet, kind soul and her smile would light up a room. The world has definitely lost one of its earth-bound angels! She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Take care and you will be in my prayers.
    Love,
    Merna
