Randall (Randy) Gmiterek

March 25, 1958 — March 3, 2023

March 25, 1958 ~ March 3, 2023

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Randy Gmiterek, aged 64 of Allegra, MB, beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Nephew, Uncle and Friend.

Randy will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, of 42 years, Laura (nee Lafreniere), his sons Nicholas (Erin) and Jesse (Shania), sister Sharon Dugard, in-laws Donna & Larry Lashek, Glen Lafreniere and also his nephews and their children Kelvin Lashek, Derek Lashek (Alexis & Hailey), Aaron & Breanne Dugard (Brooke & Dawson), and Nathan & Debbie Dugard.

Randy was reunited in heaven with his parents Stanley and Jean Gmiterek, in-laws Joseph and May Lafreniere and brothers-in-law Mark Dugard, and Keith Lafreniere.

My partner in life, Randy, had an amazing personality.  He was a people magnet that could build a friendship with all those that crossed his path.  It didn’t matter where he was in the crowd he always made a new friend.  He was a man of many words.  He loved to listen and always share a few stories of his own.  He was a farmer, mechanic, carpenter and many more self taught trades.  He was the creator of his own dictionary always making people laugh.  He was always available to lend a helping hand and was always shy to say no.  He had a great love for life and for all of whom he would share it with.

At an early age Randy found a love to farm.  Only in time to become the 3rd generation on his homestead.  On April 25, 1981 he found a greater love, his wife and friend Laura.  Together, they shared in many travels, adventures and loved to host many gatherings creating new memories for all to share.  Never a dull moment, only to find laughter enjoying the simple things in life.  Like the seeds he loved to watch grow, his sons were his life.  From an early age he would protect them and later to advise in hope they would become the 4th generation on the land.  Turning 65 his dreams would soon come true but he would never get the chance to see them develop.

Our Dad was not just a great father, he was our best friend.  All the way from our younger years he shaped us to what we have now become.  From the outdoors, to agriculture, we were taught so much.  When we needed life advice, or an answer, he was our rock.  Some of the best experiences that we shared were on road trips looking at equipment, out in the “swamps” cutting firewood, Sunday BBQs in the backyard tiki bar and our long weekends spent at the cabin.  One thing he really loved was when our friends came for a visit.  With a beverage in his hand he would share with them all his stories of the good old days.  When he was finally out of wind from talking he would indulge in all their stories and just smile.  Being the 4th generation we are beyond proud to carry on his legacy of what he has created.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Ave. E, in Beausejour with Rev. Thomas Prachar and Rev. Harold Borchardt officiating.  Pallbearers are Nicholas Gmiterek, Jesse Gmiterek, Aaron Dugard, Nathan Dugard, Kelvin Lashek, and Derek Lashek.  Interment will follow the service in St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Cemetery in Allegra, MB.

* The funeral service will also be broadcast on 98.1 FM. for those who wish to listen from the Sobering Funeral Chapel parking lot. *
