Tina Adler

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that the world has lost a sassy mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Tina Adler, on January 7th, 2022 at the age of 79. Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas will never be the same.

Even though Mom was battling cancer, she always had time for others. Mom was, hands down, the best coffee buddy ever. She would give honest advice and opinions and if you didn’t like them, you shouldn’t have asked. Those of us who will miss this time together with her include her husband Fred, daughters Jane (Don), and Delilah (Ray), sons Steve (Tracy) and Mike (Debbie), her siblings Jack and Dolly and their families, grandchildren and great grandchildren, family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Wayne in 2019.

While Mom was our cheerleader, supporter and confidante, she was also an advocate for those who were in need, as exemplified by her career as a health care aide at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home. She enjoyed knitting, but seldom for herself. The family is well supplied with sweaters, mittens, socks and slippers (even her doctor got a pair). The rest she donated to homeless shelters, so if you see some “interestingly designed” knitwear around, she is probably the source.

Always thinking of others, she left such a stock pile of food for Dad that he will not need to shop anytime soon. We will all miss her cooking and her cupboards still groan with her cookbooks, reminding us of coming home from school to a house fragrant with fresh baked bread and cookies. Fond memories of battling over the crusty bread heels to slather with butter!

She also loved playing games, chortling in glee with her inevitable double Yahtzees and in any game her penny pot was always the biggest. When playing Sorry, her favourite, she was seldom sorry about winning.

Mom was truly a wonderful person. We know that we were loved and always in her heart and it was a blessing that she died as she wanted, peacefully in her sleep. Mom will be missed and always remembered. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will hold a private celebration of her life.
